Disney Vacation Club resales: rights, costs and questions
A Disney Vacation Club resale is a particular contract with its own home resort, term, use year and points history. Check that contract’s eligible reservations and Membership Extras position with Disney before relying on a direct-purchase benefit description.
Make a contract-level Disney comparison
- Record the home resort and the remaining contract term.
- Record the use year and available, banked, borrowed or committed points separately.
- Ask which resorts and reservation windows the resale interest can use.
- Keep dues, closing costs and any administration charge in a current written comparison.
Identify the contract
Confirm the home resort, contract term, points allocation, use year and available/banked/borrowed points. Ask Disney Member Services which resorts and benefits are available to the new owner under that exact resale interest.
Distinguish direct-purchase benefits
Disney’s membership overview separately describes benefits of purchasing directly. Do not assume discounts, events, cruise options or other Membership Extras transfer with a resale. Ask for current written eligibility information.
Exchange information
Disney’s current World Collection page describes Interval International exchanges. Eligibility, deposits, charges and availability must be checked for the particular membership; an exchange destination is not a guaranteed reservation or an inherent permanent ownership right.
Budget without a generic break-even promise
Obtain the actual current dues and any transaction costs, then compare the ownership with the way you travel. This guide does not quote a universal point price, dues rate or return-on-investment date.
A useful follow-up question
Can two Disney contracts with the same points total be different?
Yes. Home resort, term, use year, available balances and transfer conditions can differ. Ask for those details before comparing price per point. Membership Extras and non-home-resort options require their own current eligibility check.
