Check the program before you commit the week
RCI
RCI offers different exchange programs. Confirm whether the ownership participates in RCI Weeks, RCI Points or a separate developer arrangement; the currencies and rules should not be treated as interchangeable.
Start with Weeks versus Points
RCI describes Weeks exchanges in terms of depositing eligible vacation time and receiving Deposit Trading Power. Its Points program uses a points allocation. Ask which program applies to the exact interest and whether an existing account or enrollment transfers to a buyer.
Decide what you are committing before depositing
Obtain the applicable deposit deadline, expiration, cancellation and return-of-use rules before giving up a home-resort reservation. Then compare the desired accommodation, travel flexibility and all charges shown for the proposed exchange.
Keep exchange expectations separate from buying
A resale can be suitable for home-resort use even when a particular exchange is unavailable. If an exchange is the main reason to buy, ask RCI and the responsible resort to confirm eligibility in writing before you commit.
Questions to bring to the program
- Which exact RCI membership or program would recognize this ownership after transfer?
- What deposit or points are available for the intended travel period, and when do they expire?
- What membership, exchange, guest, resort or other charges apply to this particular trip?
- What happens to the deposited rights if I cancel or cannot find a match?
Keep the exact resort, usage frequency and intended travel period available when you ask. Start with those basics; do not send member passwords or payment details through a public inquiry.
